TRT : Technical Rescue Techniques
Sometimes emergencies exceed the scope of routine response. Avra Valley Fire District's Technical Rescue Team is trained and equipped to handle more complex, high-risk situations, thereby ensuring that that the District meets its goal of providing all-hazards response no matter the situation. Station 194, located on Homestead Dr in Red Rock, houses the District's technical rescue team and a specialized squad truck equipped with the necessary equipment and protective gear to perform these advanced operations and rescues. Members of the team receive advanced training through a regional 200-hour course that includes classes on advanced rope resuces, confined-space rescues, trench rescues, building stabilization and swiftwater rescue. In addition to the initial training, members of the TRT team also complete yearly continuing education and participate in regional drills with agencies across Southern Arizona. These members bring their knowledge and experiences back to the District to train staff on best practices for effectively responding to specialized rescues.
Our Fire District has a TRT team of highly skilled emergency responders who are trained in the following disciplines:
Rope Rescue
Swift Water Rescue
Heavy Vehicle Extrication
Structural Collapse
